Polyolefin materials, such as polyethylene and polypropylene microporous membranes, are commonly used types of li ion battery separators because of their excellent mechanical properties, chemical stability and relatively low cost.

The thickness of separator in lithium ion battery is generally ≤25μm. Under the premise of ensuring a certain mechanical strength, the thinner the separator thickness, the better. The separators used in batteries for electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) are around 40μm.

Battery separator film play two main roles in lithium batteries:

2) The micropores in the film allow lithium ions to pass through, forming a charge and discharge circuit.
