Products Description
This manual coating adhesion tester is designed to evaluate the adhesion strength of various coating films on substrate surfaces. In lithium-ion battery manufacturing, it is commonly used after the coating process to assess how well the active material adheres to the electrode substrate.
Working principle:
As the handwheel is turned, a steel needle moves steadily to the right, etching a circular (spiral) pattern onto the coated surface.
The inspection is based on observing scratches made on the substrate. The pattern is divided into 7 marked sections, each corresponding to a different adhesion grade.
E.g:
·If part 1 remains intact, adhesion is rated as Grade 1 (best).
·If part 1 is damaged but part 2 is intact, it’s rated Grade 2, and so on.
·Grade 7 indicates the weakest adhesion.
To confirm a result, at least two specimens must consistently match the same grade.

How to Use?
1.Prepare the test substrate as required.
2.It is recommended to replace the steel needle with a new one at the beginning of use. The needle tip should be approximately 3 mm above the work surface.
3.Adjust the position of the needle tip based on the required drawing diameter, then secure it with screws.
4.Place the coated side of the substrate firmly against the workbench and press it tightly.
5.Add weights to the weight plate as specified.
6.Lift the movable half nut to move the table to its outermost position, then lower the half nut to lock it in place.
7.Adjust the pressure rod so the needle tip makes contact with the coating.
8.Turn the handwheel; the steel needle will draw a spiral pattern on the substrate. Assess the coating’s adhesion based on the resulting pattern.
Storage and Transportation:
1.Lubricate the sliding parts frequently to prevent rust.
2.Before measurement, apply lubricant to the oil hole and guide rail, and ensure the instrument is used on a horizontal surface.
3.Handle the worktable carefully to avoid striking the steel needle.
4.Typically, a steel needle should be replaced after five uses.
5.During testing, the steel needle must penetrate to the substrate beneath the coating, and the resulting pattern should expose the surface of the base material.
6.This instrument is not suitable for wood or plastic samples.
7.Clean thoroughly after use, and protect from dust and moisture.
8.For long-term storage or transport, wrap the instrument in a plastic bag with a desiccant, place it inside a protective wooden box with soft internal padding to avoid damage during handling.
